1. Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?
Fapt 7.12
But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first. ;

2. And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.

And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and also our little ones. ;Ps 118.17
I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD. ;Isa 38.1
In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live. ;

3. And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.

4. But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him.
Gen 42.38
And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave. ;

5. And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan.
Fapt 7.11
Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance. ;

6. And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.
Gen 41.41
And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. ;Gen 37.7
For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf. ;

7. And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.

8. And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.

9. And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.
Gen 37.5-9
And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. ;

10. And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come.
