1. Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,
2Sam 7.8-9
Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel: ;Ps 78.70-71
He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds: ;Ps 89.27
Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. ;1Sam 16.12-13
And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he. ;Ps 89.20
I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him: ;
2. The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.
2Pet 1.21
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. ;
3. The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.
Deut 32.4-31
He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. ;2Sam 22.2-32
And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; ;Ex 18.21
Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: ;2Cron 19.7-9
Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts. ;
4. And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.
Jud 5.31
So let all thine enemies perish, O LORD: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years. ;Ps 89.36
His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me. ;Prov 4.18
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. ;Osea 6.5
Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth. ;Ps 110.3
Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. ;
5. Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.
2Sam 7.15-16
But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. ;Ps 89.29
His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven. ;Isa 55.3
Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. ;
6. But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:
7. But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.
8. These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.
9. And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:
1Cron 11.12
And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighties. ;1Cron 27.4
And over the course of the second month was Dodai an Ahohite, and of his course was Mikloth also the ruler: in his course likewise were twenty and four thousand. ;
10. He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.
