1. But Job answered and said,

2. Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.

3. Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.
Iov 16.10
They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me. ;Iov 17.2
Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation? ;

4. As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?

5. Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.

And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel? ;Iov 29.9
The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth. ;Iov 40.4

6. Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.

7. Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?

The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly. ;Ps 17.10-14
They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly. ;Ps 73.3-12

Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously? ;Hab 1.16
Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous. ;

8. Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.

9. Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.
Ps 73.5
They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men. ;

10. Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.
Ex 23.26
There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil. ;
