1. Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
2. Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:
3. Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:
Ps 11.2For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. ;
Ps 57.4My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. ;
Ps 58.7Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces. ;
Ier 9.3And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD. ;
4. That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
5. They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?
Prov 1.11If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: ;
Ps 10.11He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it. ;
Ps 59.7Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear? ;
6. They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.
7. But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.
Ps 7.12-13If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready. ;
8. So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.
Prov 12.13The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble. ;
Prov 18.7A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul. ;
Ps 31.11I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me. ;
Ps 52.6The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him: ;
9. And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.
Ps 40.3And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. ;
Ier 50.28The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple. ;
Ier 51.10The LORD hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God. ;
10. The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
Ps 58.10The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. ;
Ps 68.3But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice. ;
