1. Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.
Prov 15.17
Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith. ;

2. A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.
Prov 10.5
He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame. ;Prov 19.26
He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach. ;

3. The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.

Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. ;Prov 27.21
As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise. ;Ier 17.10
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. ;Mal 3.3
And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness. ;

4. A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.

5. Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.
Prov 14.31
He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor. ;Iov 31.29
If I rejoice at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him: ;

6. Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
Ps 127.3
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. ;Ps 128.3
Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. ;

7. Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.

8. A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.
Prov 18.16
A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men. ;Prov 19.6
Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts. ;

9. He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.
Prov 10.12
Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. ;Prov 16.28
A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends. ;

10. A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.
