1. Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

Bless ye God in the congregations, even the Lord, from the fountain of Israel. ;Deut 6.13
Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name. ;Isa 65.16
That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes. ;Tef 1.5
And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham; ;Ier 4.2
And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory. ;Ier 5.2
And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely. ;

2. For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.
Isa 52.1
Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean. ;Mic 3.11
The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us. ;Rom 2.17
Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God, ;

3. I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.
Isa 41.22
Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come. ;Isa 42.9
Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. ;Isa 43.9
Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth. ;Isa 44.7-8
And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them. ;Isa 45.21
Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. ;Isa 46.9-10
Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, ;Ios 21.45
There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass. ;

4. Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;

And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: ;Deut 31.27
For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death? ;

5. I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.
Isa 48.3
I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass. ;

6. Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.

7. They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.

8. Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.
Ps 58.3
The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. ;

9. For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.
Ps 79.9
Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake. ;Ps 106.8
Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known. ;Isa 43.25

10. Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.
Ps 66.10
For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried. ;
