1. Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
SMS 2. Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
Lev 18.3After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances. ;
Lev 20.23And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them. ;
SMS 3. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
Isa 40.19-20The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains. ;
Isa 44.9They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed. ;
Isa 45.20Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save. ;
SMS 4. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
Isa 41.7So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved. ;
Isa 46.7They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he standeth; from his place shall he not remove: yea, one shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble. ;
SMS 5. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

SMS 6. Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.
Ex 15.11Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? ;
Ps 86.8-10Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works. ;
SMS 7. Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
Apoc 15.4Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest. ;
Ps 89.6For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD? ;
SMS 8. But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities.
Ps 115.8They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them. ;
Isa 41.29Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion. ;
Hab 2.18What profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols? ;
Zah 10.2For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd. ;
Rom 1.21-22Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. ;
SMS 9. Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.

Ps 115.4Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. ;
SMS 10. But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.

Ps 10.16The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land. ;
