1. Then said the high priest, Are these things so?
2. And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,
Fapt 22.1
Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you. ;
3. And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.
Gen 12.1
Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee: ;
4. Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.
Gen 11.31
And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. ;Gen 12.4-5
So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. ;
5. And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.
Gen 12.7
And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him. ;Gen 13.15
For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. ;Gen 15.3-8
And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. ;Gen 17.8
And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. ;Gen 26.3
Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; ;
6. And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.
Gen 15.13-16
And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; ;Ex 12.40
Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years. ;Gal 3.17
And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. ;
7. And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.
Ex 3.12
And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain. ;
8. And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.
Gen 17.9-11
And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations. ;Gen 21.2-4
For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. ;Gen 25.26
And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them. ;Gen 29.31
And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren. ;Gen 30.5
And Bilhah conceived, and bare Jacob a son. ;Gen 35.18-23
And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin. ;
9. And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,
Gen 37.4-28
And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him. ;Ps 105.17
He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant: ;Gen 39.2-23
And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. ;
10. And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
Gen 41.37
And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants. ;Gen 42.6
And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth. ;
