1. Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

2. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law: ;Fapt 22.3
I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day. ;Gal 1.14
And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. ;Gal 4.17
They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them. ;Rom 9.31
But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. ;

3. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
Rom 1.17
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. ;Rom 9.30
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. ;Filip 3.9
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: ;

4. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. ;Gal 3.24
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. ;

5. For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
Lev 18.5
Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD. ;Neem 9.29
And testifiedst against them, that thou mightest bring them again unto thy law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, but sinned against thy judgments, (which if a man do, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear. ;Ezec 20.11-21
And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them. ;Gal 3.12
And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. ;

6. But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
Deut 30.12-13
It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? ;

7. Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

8. But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
