1. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; ;1Cor 14.1
Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. ;Mat 7.22
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? ;Mat 17.20
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. ;Marc 11.23
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. ;Luc 17.6
And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. ;

3. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Prov 10.12
Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. ;1Pet 4.8
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. ;

5. Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth. ;Filip 2.4
Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. ;

6. Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth. ;Rom 1.32
Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. ;

7. Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. ;Gal 6.2
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. ;2Tim 2.24
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, ;

8. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. ;

10. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
