1. The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. ;Evr 10.26
For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, ;

2. For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

3. Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
1Tim 1.2
Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. ;

4. I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

5. And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
1Ioan 2.7-8
Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. ;1Ioan 3.11
For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. ;Ioan 13.34
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. ;Ioan 1.15
John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. ;Efes 5.2
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. ;1Pet 4.8
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. ;1Ioan 3.23
And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. ;

6. And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. ;Ioan 2.5

Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. ;

7. For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
1Ioan 4.1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. ;1Ioan 4.2-3
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: ;1Ioan 2.22
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. ;1Ioan 4.3
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. ;

8. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
Marc 13.9
But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them. ;Gal 3.4
Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. ;Evr 10.32-35
But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; ;

9. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
1Ioan 2.23
Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. ;

10. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
Rom 16.17
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. ;1Cor 5.11
But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. ;1Cor 16.22
If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha. ;Gal 1.8-9
