1. A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
1Sam 2.25
If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall entreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them. ;

2. A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
Prov 12.14
A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him. ;

3. He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
Ps 39.1
I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. ;Prov 21.23
Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles. ;Iac 3.2
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. ;

4. The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
Prov 10.4
He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. ;

5. A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

6. Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
Prov 11.3-6
The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them. ;

7. There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
Prov 12.9
He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread. ;

8. The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.

9. The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
Iov 18.5-6
Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine. ;Iov 21.17
How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger. ;Prov 24.20
For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out. ;

10. Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
