1. And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

2. And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

3. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Luc 6.20
And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. ;Ps 51.17
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. ;Prov 16.19
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. ;Prov 29.23
A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. ;Isa 57.15
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. ;Isa 66.2
For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. ;

4. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Isa 61.2-3
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; ;Luc 6.21
Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. ;Ioan 16.20
Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. ;2Cor 1.7
And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation. ;Apoc 21.4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. ;

5. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Ps 37.11
But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. ;Rom 4.13
For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. ;

6. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Isa 55.1
Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. ;Isa 65.13
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed: ;

7. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Ps 41.1
Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. ;Mat 6.14
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: ;Marc 11.25
And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. ;2Tim 1.16
The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: ;Evr 6.10
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. ;Iac 2.13
For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. ;

8. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Ps 15.2
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. ;Ps 24.4
He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. ;Evr 12.14
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: ;1Cor 13.12
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. ;1Ioan 3.2-3
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. ;

9. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
2Cor 4.17
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; ;2Tim 2.12
If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: ;1Pet 3.14
But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; ;
