1. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Rom 8.24-25
For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? ;2Cor 4.18
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. ;2Cor 5.7
(For we walk by faith, not by sight:) ;
2. For by it the elders obtained a good report.
Evr 11.39
And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: ;
3. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Gen 1.1
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. ;Ps 33.6
By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. ;Ioan 1.3

Gen 4.4
And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: ;1Ioan 3.12
Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous. ;Gen 4.10
And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. ;
5. By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Mat 23.35
That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. ;Evr 12.24
And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things that that of Abel. ;Gen 5.22-24
And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: ;
6. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
7. By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Gen 6.13-22
And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. ;1Pet 3.20
Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. ;Rom 3.22

Gen 12.1-4
Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee: ;Fapt 7.2-4
And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran, ;
9. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
Gen 12.8
And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD. ;Gen 13.3-18
And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai; ;Gen 18.1-9
And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; ;Evr 6.17
Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: ;
10. For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Evr 12.22
But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, ;Evr 13.14
For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. ;Evr 3.4
For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. ;Apoc 21.2-10
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. ;
