2. Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?
Ioel 2.2
A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. ;SMS

3. Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.
Ps 78.4
We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. ;SMS

4. That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.
Deut 28.38
Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it. ;Ioel 2.25
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. ;SMS

5. Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.

6. For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.

9. The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD's ministers, mourn.
Ioel 1.13
Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God. ;Ioel 2.14
Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God? ;SMS

10. The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth.
Ier 12.11
They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart. ;Ier 14.2
Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish; they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up. ;Isa 24.7
The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh. ;Ioel 1.12
The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men. ;SMS
