1. Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia: ;Efes 3.6
That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: ;Tit 1.2
In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; ;Evr 9.15
And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. ;

2. To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3. I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

4. Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

5. When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

6. Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

7. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

8. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. ;1Tim 2.6
Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. ;Apoc 1.2

Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. ;Col 1.24
Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church: ;2Tim 4.5
But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. ;

9. Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. ;Rom 16.25
Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, ;Efes 1.4
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: ;Efes 3.11
According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: ;Tit 1.2
In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; ;1Pet 1.20
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, ;

10. But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: ;Col 1.26

Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, ;1Cor 15.54-55
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. ;Evr 2.14
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; ;
