1. Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
2Tim 2.25
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; ;1Tim 3.16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. ;1Tim 6.3
If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; ;

2. In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. ;Num 23.19

3. But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

5. For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

6. If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
1Tim 3.2
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; ;1Tim 3.12
Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. ;1Tim 3.4-12
One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; ;

7. For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

9. Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
